Microsoft launched Windows Marketplace for Mobile
Unwired – Monday, Microsoft had launched Windows Marketplace for Mobile. Microsoft Marketplace allows for searching, browsing and purchasing mobile applications from Windows phones (or soon from a PC). The new marketplace will be included with all Windows phones based on Windows Mobile 6.5, which will help consumers to easily find, install and experience those applications that fit their needs and make the phone truly personal.
It’s featuring free and paid apps and is available in localized versions already. The use of Windows Marketplace for Mobile requires a Windows Live ID. Furthermore, as Microsoft unveiled earlier this summer, Windows Marketplace for Mobile will also hit Windows Mobile 6 and 6.1 devices later this year.
Ha ha, Microsoft done it again. They want to follow the same step that Apple had done. Apple had recently claimed App Store hit 2 billion download and generate profits more than compared to last 5 months.
Other rivals saw the App Store as a good to follow a business model. Via App Store, Apple boasts hundreds of thousands of applications, some of which are priced at less than US$1 which attracts at least 80,000 downloads each day.
Microsoft might not follow as Apple did, as the App Store was developed by independent developer, which Apple only strictly control which one to be featured on the App Store.
