The Samsung SGH-i900 also known as Omnia in Malaysia, Singapore and in the rest Asia. Announced in June 2008 in Singapore and available in Malaysia’s store somewhere in July 2008.

Retails at price RM2799 for 8BG while the 16GB was retailed at RM2999. For users interested in use items, they can managed to buy it on lelong.com.my, mudah.com.my and other lelong forum out there popular in Malaysia. Basically for 2nd hand unit of 8GB and 16GB, it is easily can get around RM1800 to RM2700.

I bought my 8GB Omnia in September 2008 via Mudah.com.my. I met the seller in Wangsa Maju that night and finally lock it at RM1850. It is Malaysian set and is under FMG Malaysia warranty. I had used Pocket PC Phone and PDA SmartPhone since 2003 until now. Started with O2 XDA II, O2 XDA II Mini, Dopod 838 Pro, Nokia Communicator 9300 and E90, Samsung SGH-i780 and now the Omnia. For me, I am more suited to Microsoft Windows Mobile more than other platform in the market. If you ask me which brand I prefer much, the answer may be HTC and Samsung. Right now the interest have been diversify to Nokia N97 a little bit as it’d happened when I’d written an article about N97 recently. See and judge by your self on the what is about the new Nokia N97.

From the specifications and features listed above, what you can tell about this phone is something noteworthy. After viewing it a long time, bought and try it, what all I can say that I can live with it!

I have my office colleagues and friends that felt Omnia are not good when it come to typing and messaging using finger. It is true and quite annoying when you use the standard on-screen keyboard to type. To overcome this problem, make sure you use other type of 3rd party keyboard like Resco Keyboard which similar to iPhone keyboard. Other than the keyboard’s problem, the other problem may be derived from its firmware version that leads to phone call problem or battery drains so fast. It is a matter of firmware and just seek and upgrade to a stable version like HI1. Later I will teach you how to upgrade the firmware.

As for now, some users might feel comfortable with Omnia while the rest don’t. The reason behind that which I do not know is all about the necessity of using the gadget, the Omnia. As long you know what you aspect from it and fully make use the phone, you can live with it! There will be lots of useful articles coming up later for Omnia’s how-to, tips and tricks in digadget. Lastly, I would like to share with you a video that noteworthy to watch. This video was taken from youtube site about unboxing the new Omnia. Have fun!
